travel marketing takeways

Last Monday, at Novotel hotel in Singapore, Mumbrella Asia Travel Marketing Summit 2018 happened. Is was an experience having the opportunity to listen to the experts in travelling marketing discussing trends, customers and technology to tackle today’s challenges. It was refreshing to see that technology is finally a priority and in the same time a challenge, that as marketers, we cannot avoid or hide, but if done right, can offer an immerse value.

A vast number of lessons and inspiring ideas, but in a nutshell, here are the take ways from my point of view:

  1. Data is the biggest problem marketing has today.
  2. AI is not about technology first, is about the user experience
  3. Stats are good, useful and insightful, but a user story around those insights would have been worth a thousand words.
  4. Content marketing is not dead. But it’s all about user experience.
  5. AI can be creative, algorithmically creative, but it can’t be original ( in content creation ).
  6. Travel Marketing is in dire desire of innovation and distruption
  7. Choice is not always a good thing.
  8. Data is utility, data is as good of the interpretation of it.
  9. The biggest enemy of unconnected data? Silos.
  10. Influencers are overrated. Content creators is a better term.
